IKO offers many other advantages to their customers. First, all of their shingles are composed of heavyweight 2 pound fiberglass mat engineered for superior strength and wind resistance. Their SBS modified sealant is extremely aggressive and will activate and seal down in cooler temperatures. The material stays flexible to compensate for roof expansion and contraction. IKO includes a rubber additive in their asphalt which keeps it soft and easier to install. The installer’s job is lengthier with brittle sealant as it takes a lot more heat to activate it. Next, IKO uses sandstrip sand instead of granules so that the bundles are flat, which means the shingles install flat even in cool temperatures. Their larger shingles enable faster installation with less nails and the shingles are also able to go down faster because they are thicker than most. Again showing their dedication to low cost, IKO offers superior coverage with 3 bundles of shingles covering 100 square feet. Lastly, IKO offers a 15 year iron clad warranty. This is bumper to bumper coverage and includes labor, materials, dumping and flashings if there are any manufacturer issues within 15 years of your purchase. There is also an additional 35 years of prorated coverage included on all shingles.
